A Good Walk Spoiled

Craig and I have been out golfing quite a bit these days (3 times this last weekend!) I still have a lot to learn (obviously), but one thing I sure have learned so far is there are good days and very very bad days in golf. One day this weekend, I played pretty well...my driver was my best friend. The next day...my driver quickly became my worse enemy and honestly, it almost didn't make it home. Grrrrr...! Of course Craig finds my "performance" on the course wildly entertaining. To help me recover from my very very bad day out on the course, Craig sent me the following quotes I thought I'd share. Shopping Trip

Fridays. I love Fridays. I have every Friday off which makes them that much better. This last Friday I discovered something amazing. The discovery…Park Meadows Mall. That scary part, it is only 15 minutes away. As soon as I walked in, I called Craig to tell him he should NEVER let me live this close to a mall like this. Thankfully I’m a “bargain only” shopper, and this mall would be classified as a “look only” mall. But boy do I love to look. First, I discovered this furniture store that I literally spent hours in. It is a family owned store (I can’t even remember the name of it) but it has some of the neatest decorating ideas. I literally sat and studied the rooms in there. There was something so warm, yet fresh, yet bright and airy about their designs. There were a couple of must haves that might have to be purchased upon the purchase of our new house. The next store that I REALLY enjoyed was the American Girl store. I love this store for many reasons. First, I grew up swooning over American Girl catalogs. I used to look at them for hours. The dolls were so beautiful; they had the neatest accessories, and some of the sweetest clothes. This is one of the only (maybe the only…I’m not sure) American Doll stores. Up until this point they have been a catalog only store. The store is set up such that they have dolls in cases with little sets (a tea party, a slumber party, a camping trip, etc.). The details they put forward in these dolls and accessories is outstanding. In addition, they have a beauty parlor for the dolls. I had to laugh because it was so funny! There was a line of little girls with their dolls in hand. These dolls had their hair all frumpy , sticking up everywhere, hair ties sticking out, just over all frazzled. They were all in line to get their doll’s hair done. In front of them was a huge bar like set-up with doll size hair salon seats. The “hair stylists” would put these dolls in these chairs and go to work on their hair. You wouldn’t believe how well the hair on these dolls cleaned up! The little girls would get so excited. It was precious. They also had an ear piercing station where you can get your doll’s ears pierced. The mother/daughter dynamics in this store were adorable. One mom stated to her daughter, “honey, you can get your doll’s ears pierced, but I can do that for free at home.” I love it. Needless to say…the little girl insisted on getting them done at the store.
With that said, a successful shopping trip I wanted to share (mainly because I didn’t spend a penny!).

Life in Colorado

So far, Colorado has been extremely good to us, and boy have we been busy! First, an update on the likings of our new jobs. Craig is now on his fourth week of work. In short, he really likes it. His new co-workers are continually impressed with his vast amount of experience. He sees great potential in his new job and has been easily integrated into his new team. My job is going well too. The subject matter (rockets) keeps me interested, I work with great people, and I keep busy. So on the job front, we couldn’t be happier and we are very thankful we both have jobs…that we like, in a place we are happy to be.
Outside of work we have managed to keep ourselves busy as well. The weather here is phenomenal. I love the amount of sun we get here. Moving from the west coast, we REALLY appreciate all the sunshine. There is so much to do here; we are always on the go. Two weekends ago we got to spend the evening with Craig’s brother and his brother’s girlfriend in downtown Denver. It had been years since Craig and I had been downtown. It looked the same, yet different. We had a great time, going to a martini bar, a yummy seafood restaurant (I tried my first raw oyster!), and of course the cheesecake factory for dessert. The next day, we headed out house hunting. Since this is our third house we will be buying in about 5 years, we know exactly what we are looking for in a house, and boy do we get picker with each house purchase. The biggest criteria we have this time around is outdoor space. We want some space between us and the next house. We don’t want to look out our windows and see right into our neighbor’s house. Luckily Parker, CO (our new home city), has plenty of houses with space around them. The challenge is that most houses with some space are old and pretty small. This last weekend however, we found an AMAZING house! We both fell in love the instant we walked in. It has everything we want in a house with some extras we would have never thought of. The bad news…we still haven’t sold our house in Washington . The house we found here is a short sell, so it is an AMAZING bargain, and it could take a LONG time for the bank to approve our offer…which buys us some time. Of course if the time comes, and someone else puts an offer on this house, and we haven’t sold our house in WA yet, we’ll have to let it go. With this said, we are REALLY hoping our house sells soon. I can not wait! Oh boy is my imagination going crazy with all kinds of new decorating ideas! Sell house sell! Does anyone want to buy a house in Washington??

Moving on. So after our very successful house hunting trip, the next day we went to the Senior PGA tournament that was right in Parker. All I have to say is Wow. I knew these folks would be good, but I was completely amazed how good these guys were. It was really neat to watch, and I LOVED being out in the sun all day. Even with 50 SPF sunscreen, I got a sunburn! Geesh, high altitude.

So that was two weekends ago. This last weekend was busy too. My sister and I got an awesome opportunity to do a really fun photo shoot in Keystone for an album cover! My sister loves photography like I do, and working together we come up with some great ideas. The music artist we were photographing wanted a “rustic/wooden feel” to the cover. We brainstormed and had some great visions of wooden shacks. Keystone has some wooden shack/cabin buildings that worked perfect. We even found one with a porch complete with an old lantern hanging on it. I couldn’t have created the scene better myself! We had such a fun time, and I really think we got some great shots. I’ve been up to Keystone in the winter to ski, but in the summer, the place is spectacular.

The rest of the weekend consisted of a lot of golf. Craig is a great golf instructor! Each time we go, I get a little better, and it becomes more fun. We played a Par 3 course that was a blast. Just my size and not too overwhelming.
