I don't know what happened, but life got really busy the last couple of weeks. Craig and I both feel like we have been running at full speed without any breaks. Last week was hectic because we were getting ready for a photo shoot for a Navy Ball. Every year the Navy puts on a Ball for all the Prowler (EA-6B) pilots. One squadron put together a pre-party for the ball and they needed a photographer. Since photography is one of my passions, a friend at work (her husband is a pilot) asked me if I wouldn't mind volunteering! Absolutely! The squadron wanted formal pictures so we needed to come up with an adequate background. Because we really didn't know what we had to work with (room, lighting, backgrounds, inside, outside...) we simply brought everything. We brought background sheets, chairs, three cameras, and a huge flash. We were ready. Once we got there we were able to come up with a wonderful backgroud, test out some lighting and we were ready to go. Everyone started to show up and form a line to get their pictures taken. Moments before my first shot, I turned on my camera and noticed a blinking error light. Oh boy! Craig! Help! We both frantically looked at the camera, desparetly turning it on and off. Nothing worked. Um...try and switch lenses. Didn't work. Oh no, please don't make me go back to my film camera! Power on and off again. Nothing. Okay, call Polly, and see if she can provide me a quick fix (she is also into photography). People are waiting, I have one broken digital SLR camera, a film SLR, and a point and shoot digital. Okay, try one more time to switch out lenses. It worked! Oh boy, that was close. Ready for my first shot! This is where the fun began! I absolutley had the best time. Posing couples, working to get them at just the right angles, making them do a kiss shot in front of the camera....it was a blast. While I did the formal pictures, craig took my other camera and took some photojournalistic type of shots in the party and passed out photo shoot coupons and business cards. Together, we made an awesome team. Next on the list...group shots. Oh boy. There were about 50 sailors, and 50 wives. This is difficult...especially in a small room. Getting the girls all posed was no easy task, but the guys, now this was a challenge. Eventually we got everyone in one picture, snapped a few really good shots and we were done! We had a really good time! Below are some "detail" shots.
Next on the list...my family is coming into town today! Yipppppppeeee! I am so excited. We have all sorts of plans....take a ferry to the san juan islands, go biking, fishing, and just hang out. I love my little brother so much and I can't wait to give him a HUGE hug!
I just finished reading one of my favorite books (for the third time!). The name of the book is Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. If you don't mind crying while reading, this is a good book for you.
